Welcome to Lakers Saturday superlatives! We take a look at the week that included games against the Grizzlies, Spurs, Pelicans, and Wizards.

WTF of the Week

Alex Caruso drew the ire of angry NBA fans this past week. The “meme guy” is talked a lot about his appearance and lack of hair. There is a novelty to him much like Tacko Fall is known for being nine feet tall. But, Caruso is a legitimate player. Against the Pelicans, Caruso only had two points, one rebound, and two assists but recorded the best +/- out of anyone on the floor. The bald mamba may not fill the stat sheet, but great things happen when he plays. That being said: RONDO OUT

Play of the Week

Anthony Davis made his return to New Orleans as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Davis was showered with boos but ended with the game with 41 points, nine rebounds, and a game-winning steal. Having Davis account for a lot of the scoring was intended by the Lakers. This game-winning steal is just the icing on the cake.  I picked this as the play of the week just based on how important this had to be for Davis and was the Lakers’ ninth consecutive win.

This reminded me of the last time the Lakers had someone wearing three that had a game-winning steal.

Quote of the Week

You have to respect the petty from this. The Lakers fed Anthony Davis a lot in the high post during the game against the Pelicans and you could hear all of the boos from the home team. The Lakers ended up with the victory and Kyle Kuzma had this to say. Christian Rivas brought it up, but it looked like there could be some bad blood between Kuzma and his former teammates.

Kicks of the Week

This week’s kicks go to Jared Dudley. During this week’s game against Spurs, Dudley showed up with the recently released Nike Kyrie 6‘s in the Miami colorway. I really enjoy colorful shoes! Kyrie has had a slew of interesting colorways including those in the preheat collection. The Miami colorway is a part of that pack. This isn’t the first time Dudley has worn Kyries. He has worn the 5’s in the Squidward colorway before.

The reason I pick these as the kicks of the week is that they’re an aesthetically pleasing pair of shoes.  Undoubtedly, they are inspired by the Nike Yeezy 2’s. They’re a mid-top shoe with a forefoot strap that’s heavily reminiscent of the signature shoe by the rapper. Also, the colorway is great. The yellow, pink, and light blue work so well together as we have seen before with Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 97.

Outfit of the Week

This is selfish to say but I picked the outfit of the week because I think this is something I can pull off. Neutral colors can work sometimes! Kyle Kuzma can be seen here wearing a Purple Brand jacket. He’s also wearing the “Tales from the Hills” shirt from South Central Hills.  I could not find the type of pants that he is wearing but I love plaid pants! I’m a frequent plaid pant wearer. Plaid shorts, on the other hand, are an abomination and need to be banned. Kuzma finishes off the outfit with what looks like high-top Puma RS-X sneakers in black and gray. I apologize if I got that wrong, I’m not very knowledgeable of Puma shoe models.
