Why LeBron James’ ‘Space Jam 2’ will be better than the original movie

We’re in the middle of the summer, which means it’s summer blockbuster season at movie theaters across the country. Hollywood has been busy releasing its biggest movies, but its best source of entertainment might be happening somewhere else. This source of late hasn’t been from the silver screen, but has instead happened 280 characters at a time on Adrian Wojnarowski’s Twitter account.

I’m of course talking about Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joining the Los Angeles Clippers to eventually take on the Los Angeles Lakers’ own LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the battle for L.A. The two duos will face off during the 2019-20 season, as we have to spend the rest of the time between now and then talking about which duo has the better NBA 2K20 rating.

While we are doing that, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have their minds on other things. They’re currently spending their time on a movie set filming the future 2021 movie, ‘Space Jam 2’. The movie is the sequel, of course, to the 1996 film ‘Space Jam’ that starred Michael Jordan.

There’s been plenty of debate over the past decade of LeBron James’ potential to unseat Michael Jordan as the GOAT. That discussion will continue until LeBron is retired, and will probably extend past his retirement, but I’m not here to talk about that. No, I’m here to give a tease on how it’s unquestionable that ‘Space Jam 2’ will be a better movie than ‘Space Jam’.

LeBron James is a much better actor

Have you watched the movie ‘Space Jam’ since you were a kid? That “Mikey J” guy stinks at acting! LeBron, on the other hand, is a full-fledged Hollywood heavyweight with his own production company and everything.

Let’s just take a look at the films that LeBron James and Michael Jordan have been in:

  • LeBron James (scores from Rotten Tomatoes)
    • ‘Trainwreck’ (85%)
    • ‘Smallfoot’ (76%)
  • Michael Jordan
    • ‘He Got Game’ (81%)
    • ‘Space Jam’ (43%)
    • ‘Year 3000’ (45% on IMDB)

First, I know what you’re thinking and the answer is “yes”. Michael Jordan was a voice actor in a 2018 animated movie called ‘Year 3000’. I didn’t know either.

Either way, you can see that LeBron’s movies are rated better. And that’s not by me, that’s by certified movie critics. So we already have one point for Team Bron Bron and ‘Space Jam 2’.

There are more Lakers in this movie

Sure, there was a Lakers scene involving them not playing due to the fear of having their powers stolen, but the players involved in the scene weren’t part of the core five players that have their powers stolen.

There were no Lakers involved in the group, but that’ll be different this time around. In ‘Space Jam 2’, not only do we have a Laker starring in the movie, but he will be accompanied by new Laker, Anthony Davis! If you want me to make a stretch (I always do), there’s also the son of a lifelong Laker in Klay Thompson.

This is a fact and not necessarily an opinion, the more Lakers there are, the better.

A better supporting cast of actors and players already

‘Space Jam 2’ hasn’t even had its cast completed yet, and it’s already better than the cast that was featured in ‘Space Jam’.

I mean who even is this “William Murray” guy? He had a cameo in the movie ‘Zombieland’? Big deal. [Editors note: Donny is in trouble for this comment.]

The second best actor is “Newman” from ‘Seinfeld’? That’s pathetic. ‘Space Jam 2’ hasn’t even scratched the surface of actors/actresses that will be in the movie, but they do have Don Cheadle already. That’s Golden-Globe-winning and Academy-Award-nominated Don Cheadle, I might add. Also, don’t forget that the players are better. Charles Barkley? Pfft.

The current NBA players associated with ‘Space Jam 2’ (Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul) are far better than the core five players in ‘Space Jam’. I mean let’s go through the list. Muggsy Bogues? Chris Paul is better. Larry Johnson? LeBron is better. Charles Barkley? Anthony Davis is better. Shawn Bradley? Klay Thompson mops the floor with that fool.

Don’t forget that this movie is going to be produced by Ryan Coogler, the man behind ‘Creed’ and ‘Black Panther’. With him involved, this movie will crush ‘Space Jam’ from just a movie-making standpoint. AND LeBron has recruited Diana Taurasi and the Ogwumike sisters, Nneka and Chiney. Did Michael Jordan get WNBA players to be in ‘Space Jam’? I didn’t think so*.

*Okay, so, the WNBA wasn’t started until after ‘Space Jam’ came out, but whatever.

After everything I’ve presented above, you’re going to tell me that Michael Jordan still has an edge over LeBron James? I didn’t think so. Once 2021 comes around, we will finally realize that LeBron James is just flat-out better.

And no, I’m not talking about ‘Space Jam 2’ anymore.
