Lakers set to face Timberwolves on Christmas day, open against Clippers

The NBA season is slowly approaching around the corner. With about two months left until the start of the regular season, the Lakers released a glimpse of some of their notable games for the 2017-18 season.
The Lakers will start their campaign on opening night October 19th against their arena-mates the Los Angeles Clippers. This will be played as a home game for the Lakers.

With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missing the first two games of the season due to a DUI arrest back in March, the team will be without their likely starting two-guard. This is set to be the first regular season showing for second-overall pick Lonzo Ball. The former UCLA Bruin will have his hands full as he will be matched up with defensive specialist Patrick Beverley. Last season, the Lakers won on opening night against the Houston Rockets 120-114 on their way to a 10-10 start to the season.

Unsurprisingly, the upstart Lakers will be one of the marquee matchups on Christmas Day. The purple and gold will welcome Jimmy Bulter, Karl Anthony-Towns the new look Minnesota Timberwolves to STAPLES Center. As usual, this will be a 7:30 PST start and the game will be televised on TNT. This will be the Lakers’ 43rd Christmas Day game. They have a record of 21 wins and 21 losses. Last year, the Lakers beat the Clippers on Christmas night 111-102.

As the NBA season is inching closer and closer with training camp and preseason in just over a month the full schedule will be released soon but these are some of the notable matchups for the Lakers this year. The team is full of youth and excitement around players like Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram and these nationally televised games will be a platform for them to ensure that the hype around them is real.
