Tonight we got more overtime basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Oklahoma City came to town resulting in another win, 119-112. The Lakers held them to one bucket in 12 tries in the extra frame.

Injuries and rest were in order for three of the Lakers’ guys. Jared Dudley, Anthony Davis, and Alex Caruso sat this one out.  LeBron James and Dennis Schröder picked it up for them. James messed around a got a triple-double with 28 points, 12 assists, and 14 rebounds. DS17 added 19 points.

The reserves contributed off the bench big time, too. Montrezl Harrell had 21 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Kuzma notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Wes Matthews, who registered DNPs in the last two games, poured in 16 points. He hit much-needed threes in the final sessions of the game.

Overall, they shot 23.7 percent from three on 38 attempts.

The all-around effort allowed them to survive a cold shooting night. But when the Lakers needed them, they got them. Matthews and Bron nailed two down the stretch that closed the gap on what looked like a Lakers loss. The Thunder were up by five, 104-99 after Al Horford canned one of his own. From then on, the Lakers would trade buckets until they went up 110-107. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope fouled Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on a three which led to him tying the game. SGA was marvelous with 29 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.

Shortly after, LeBron missed a good look for the game-winner and thus commenced bonus basketball. They never looked back in OT and put the game away.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, continuing the COVID-based scheduling.
