The Los Angeles Lakers evened their season series with the Detroit Pistons in a double-overtime bout. The 135-129 victory capped off an extended nightcap by both squads. Tonight’s contest was a rare Saturday home game for the Lakers. They improved their record at Staples Center to 6-4.

It was an overall sloppy night for the Lakers. They lost the turnover battle at a margin of 23-20. Their paint dominance helped overcome their lack of ball protection. The Lakers outscored the Pistons 70-52. Late in the fourth quarter, they also went well over four minutes without scoring, which allowed Pistons to get the game into the first extra session.

LeBron James put this game away in the second overtime. Down the stretch, he nailed two long range bombs to give the Lakers some distance. James finished the night with 33 points and 11 assists.

Anthony Davis still continues to work his way into last year’s form. He finished the night with 30 points and six rebounds.

Three Lakers finished with 20 or more points, including LeBron, AD, and Dennis Schröder. He had 22 points in his 41 minutes. Like DS, Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso, and Talen Horton-Tucker all cracked double-digit scoring. Kuzma added 14 points along with Caruso and THT at 10.

The Lakers will be back in action on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
