Recap: Lakers take down the Magic in second scrimmage

Another game, another showing with strong moments by the Los Angeles Lakers. This time they secured their first scrimmage win, 119-112 against the Orlando Magic. The Lakers were led by Kyle Kuzma with 25 points,

Kuz, KCP Come On Strong

The belated Birthday boy came out firing today. He finished shooting a blistering 73.9 percent from the field on 13 field goals. To see Kuzma getting his groove is found money for the Lakers. This will be the catalyst to ripping through the Orlando bubble.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was also smoking hot. He was right behind Kuz and LeBron in scoring with 17 points on 87.5 percent shooting. Seeing him continue his rising confidence is going to be a major plug to fill in the hole left by Avery Bradley’s absence.

Small Injury Bite

The Lakers were down another guy after Anthony Davis left the game with an eye injury in the first half. While it doesn’t appear to be serious, Davis was given the remainder of the game off. He finished the day with nine points on 66.7 percent shooting and 10 rebounds. In his short time, he continues to show that he’s beyond the rust of the four-month layoff.

Ramping Things Up

The Lakers extended the minutes of their starters into the second half.  LeBron logged 25 minutes along with Danny Green and Kentavious Pope playing 20 or more. JaVale McGee was just a shade under at 19 minutes.

The Lakers are back in action on Monday against the Washington Wizards at 3PM EST/12PM PST.
