Welcome to the second edition of Lakers Saturday Superlatives! You can find the first one here. I’ll be switching things up category-wise but the general categories will be here.
Play of the Week
Beautiful basketball. pic.twitter.com/dfJPZpk5aW

My friends, this is beautiful. There would be a lot of passing clips available on twitter about great ball movement in the past. The San Antonio Spurs (when they were good) had plenty of videos that showed passing prowess. The Golden State Warriors (also when they were good) had many instances where their passing led to a bucket. The instances with both of those teams had capable shooters causing the defense to close out hard.
Here you could really see the chemistry among the bench. Granted, the Warriors are pretty atrocious on the defensive end of the ball this is still an incredible play. Dudley’s pass to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to Cook was an awesome sequence. It is nice to see them pass to the open man instead of forcing a shot.
I’m a simple man. I love passing sequences like this and that’s why I have this as the play of the week. (Shoutout to Raj for letting me use his tweet)
Also, play of the week
LEBRON STILL TAKING SOULS IN YEAR 17 💀pic.twitter.com/3ZZMN5etSE
— Yahoo Sports NBA (@YahooSportsNBA) November 16, 2019
I was watching this game while I was working on this write-up and how could I not include LeBron going through Nemanja Bjelica?
We’re used to this. Lebron defies the impossible. It’s his 17th year in the league and he’s still putting people on posters. Matt Moore of the Action Network would refer to LeBron as the Flying Death Machine during his time with the Miami Heat. It’s been years since that time but trying to defend a LeBron dunk is something I would never want to attempt.
Fit of the week

Troy Daniels takes the fit of the week for what he on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns. Daniels showed up in a Dior canvas jacket and matching Dior cargo pants. The all-white Air Force 1’s are a classic look and it does a good job of complimenting the otherwise all Dior fit. Comfort is one of the things you can’t overlook and this outfit looks cozy as hell. However, I am worried about the sound that the pants make when Daniels walks. Does it make a noise? I would love to try a pair out but these pants are more expensive than my monthly rent.
Quote of the week
I was like ‘hey, did you want to fight Shaq? He was like ‘man I did, man!’ I was like ‘man i did too,’ but I was like ‘there’s two things we’ve got to worry about. He’s a cop, so if we hurt him we’re going to jail. And two, if Shaq gets ahold of us, it’s over with… You’ve got to hit him and move, because if not? If Shaq gets you? It’s over with.’
Dwight Howard was on Danny Green’s podcast Inside the Green Room recently. There he was able to share how he and JaVale McGee had a certain bond over a mutual hatred.
Listen, we’ve all been there. The whole “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” really rings true. Have I become closer to someone cause we both hated a coworker? Absolutely.
Shaquille O’Neal is absolutely one of the best players of all time. Howard has beef with him over the “Superman” nickname. McGee’s antics led him to be a frequent spot on “Shaqtin a fool“. This is literally the Spider-Man meme come to life. You have two centers that were frequently antagonized by Shaq during their playing careers.
Dwight’s showing his maturity by being able to laugh at this. You have to wonder if he harbors any hatred toward Shaq though. But it’s funny to just look back at how the Diesel’s two most criticized players ended up on the same team.
Kicks of the Week

Obviously the kicks of the week go to LeBron James for his Nike LeBron 17’s PE.
I’m just kidding. I think they’re hideous! They look like a debilitating skin condition that keeps you from partaking in social gatherings.
I’m going with Davis’s Jordan VIII Cool Greys. I like the model and have not seen this colorway in awhile. To top off being a nice shoe, I think it complements the outfit pretty well.
