The Lakers and the Celtics will be playing on January 20th. Last year, the Lakers played against the Warriors on MLK Jr. Day, losing 130 to 111. The Lakers played against the Grizzlies in 2018 on MLK Jr. Day in 2018, losing 123-114. Fans will remember that the Memphis Grizzlies wore their city jerseys that commemorated Martin Luther King Jr. that night. It was the 50th anniversary of his assassination with the font inspired by the “I Am A Man” signs during the 1968 Memphis Sanitation Strike. Prior to 2018, the Lakers did not play on MLK Jr. day since 2015.
The Lakers and the Celtics split the season series during the 2019 season. The Lakers won the first game in Boston on a game-winner from Rajon Rondo on February 7, 129 to 128. The Celtics took their revenge and won at Staples Center in March, 120 to 107.
Stay tuned as the official schedule will be released shortly today.
