Well, we are a little bit closer to the start of the season as the NBA has released the schedule for some of the more exciting days during the regular season. It looks like there will be plenty of chances for national audiences to see the Lakers versus the Warriors in marquee NBA games this year. After the report that the two teams will be facing off in Oakland in prime-time on Christmas Day, it looks like they will also be pegged against each other on Martin Luther King Day.

These two matchups will make up half of the season series between the two teams likely to be atop the Pacific division. With LeBron James now on the roster, the Lakers will be a much more dangerous threat to dethrone this Warriors team that has won three of the last four NBA Finals.

By the time January 20th rolls around, the new-look Lakers will be more comfortable together and have a better feel for where they are as a team and facing off against the defending champs will be a good test for the purple and gold.

It was also announced that the Lakers’ opening week will include matchups against the Portland Trail Blazers on opening night and against the Houston Rockets as the team’s home opener. These games will be our first glimpse of LeBron James in action wearing a Laker uniform and they come against strong competition.
