Podcast: Lakers can’t escape turnovers, fouls, fall to Knicks at home

The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a slide, especially since LeBron James suffered a groin injury during their Christmas Day win over the Golden State Warriors. Since then, the Lakers are just 1-4, playing shorthanded with JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo and Kyle Kuzma also missing playing time.

On Friday, the Lakers suffered yet another defeat, falling to the New York Knicks 119 to 112. The Lakers fell into a hole early but were able to get their first lead of the night late in the third quarter, taking a six-point lead into the final frame before relinquishing it once again.

The Lakers were hurt by the turnover (16 to the Knicks’ six) and free throw (20 attempts to the Knicks’ 41) margins, especially.

Five Lakers scored in double-digits, led by Brandon Ingram’s 21 (albeit on an inefficient 21 attempts). Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (19 points), JaVale McGee (18), Lonzo Ball (17) and Ivica Zubac (10) trailed the young forward.

On the latest edition of the Lakers Outsiders Podcast, the guys discuss the Lakers crushing loss to the Knicks, the recent slide by the team and whether they are concerned about their playoff chances. They also rant about Dillon’s curse on the franchise.
