The Los Angeles Lakers took another step forward in their 2017-18 regular season campaign, increasing their win total by nine games from 2016-17. One big reason for the team’s increased success was the improved play of Julius Randle.
Randle made headlines last summer with his extreme workout regimen that led to his remarkable body transformation. His improved conditioning translated to his play on the court, as the 23-year-old logged his best all-around season of his young career. The Lakers’ season ended just a few short weeks ago, but it appears Randle already has his eyes on making another leap next season (h/t: @Carrastealth on Twitter).
Once again, the Lakers were plagued by injuries the vast majority of the season, but Randle was the only player to play in all 82 games this season. That is certainly a testament to his work ethic and desire to change his body, along with the help of his trainer, Amoila Cesar. Randle playing in every game is especially impressive when you consider the physical brand of basketball that he plays.
A big summer awaits Randle and the Lakers, as he is set to become a restricted free agent. Hopefully Randle will be back in purple and gold next season, but for now, it appears he is focused on getting ready for next season.
