In the midst of draft season, the Lakers have held over 20 workouts. Though most have featured mid-level prospects, the main focus for LA has been the consensus top picks. Chatter of the Lakers being conflicted about who to take has been swirling around, but one workout may help give people a sense of who the team is looking to draft.
Josh Jackson’s second Lakers workout did not go well, according to Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com. Lonzo Ball had one workout with the Lakers, that was ground zero of the “out of shape” talks, but has had a chance to redeem himself in front of the Lakers’ brass today.
Jackson has been the center of draft buzz recently for the Lakers, primarily because of the ‘split’ between him and Ball in the teams’ mind. After his past workout, the decision may become *that* much easier for the Lakers.
The team could also decide to move up or down in the draft depending on their admiration of Markelle Fultz, or who they think will remain available later in the early lottery. Fultz reportedly blew them away in his workout causing Magic Johnson to fall in love with him (maybe opening the door for them to become good friends), so the possibility of them trading up is intact.
Draft night is less than a week away, and things are starting to heat up. As we creep closer, rumors begin to spew out almost hourly. In the time leading up to the 22nd of this month, reports will surface about how the Lakers have flip-flopped between [prospect A] and [prospect B] for [undisclosed amount of time], but we’ll know for certain who will end up a Laker by next week. Just wait for the next report to come out saying Josh Jackson is not a Big Baller.
