Derek Fisher flips car, gets arrested for DUI

Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard and current Spectrum SportsNet studio analyst Derek Fisher crashed his car early Sunday morning and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to NBC Los Angeles, The crash happened around 3 A.M. Sunday morning when Fisher hit a curb as he was veering off the road, as a result his car flipped over on its hood.

Fisher was driving with his girlfriend and former Basketball Wives star Gloria Govan in the car. Fortunately, both were unharmed. The couple has a rather infamous history as Govan is the ex-wife of Fisher’s former teammate, Matt Barnes.

During his time with the Lakers, Fisher won five championships and had a reputation for making clutch winning plays during the postseason. He played 13 seasons with the purple and gold before retiring in 2014 with the Thunder. After his retirement, he was hired by Phil Jackson to coach the New York Knicks and in his two years, the team compiled a record of 40-96 before being fired.

Upon his departure from New York, Fisher began a broadcasting career as he appeared on NBA TV and TNT’s Inside the NBA. Then, the former point guard took a job with Spectrum SportsNet covering the Lakers for the 2016-2017 season. He has previously expressed interest in joining the Lakers as a coach or making a comeback as a player.
