Buechler will join a staff consisting of Walton, Brian Shaw, Jesse Mermuys, and Mark Madsen.
Buechler is known mostly for a long playing career. He spent 12 seasons in the NBA, playing for seven franchises. In that time, he was a part of the second Bulls’ three-peat, winning three championships under the mentorship of Phil Jackson.
Buechler does not have any high level coaching experience. In fact, his only coaching job has been for his daughter’s high school volleyball team.
The former small forward will bring experience as a player, however. Having played under Jackson, he, Walton, and Shaw may have similar ideologies. That could work well in creating a comfortable and team-oriented culture.
As more details emerge about Buechler, we will keep you informed.
