Report: Lakers plan on selecting Brandon Ingram with 2nd overall pick

Water is wet. JR Smith is shirtless. The sky is blue. Return to whatever you were previously doing.

All jokes aside; the Lakers do plan on choosing Duke’s Brandon Ingram with their second overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, according to ESPN’s Chad Ford and Ramona Shelburne.

Ingram to the Lakers has been a general thought ever since the Draft Lottery took place, and especially after the 76ers vowed their 1st overall selection to Ben Simmons. This year’s draft has been considered a two-player affair, and now that it seems the Sixers and Lakers have made up their minds, the draft truly begins after the first two selections are made.

Ingram fills a glaring need on the wing, bringing lights-out perimeter shooting and alien-like measurables to use on the defensive end of the floor. The Kinston product still has much room to grow, being that Ingram turns 19 just before preseason starts. Ingram is set to join the youthful core of D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., and Anthony Brown. It is all but a formality, but we’ll have to wait till tomorrow night to welcome Brandon Ingram to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Note: Chad Ford has missed on the Lakers’ draft before
