Sacramento Kings reportedly trying to trade for D’Angelo Russell

The trade rumors are coming in hot and heavy now.

First, the Los Angeles Lakers were possibly trading the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft for Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler. That rumor has not appeared to gain any traction, but instead has been replaced by the latest trade news.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that the Lakers’ phone has been “ringing off the hook” with teams trying to pry away the second overall pick, but now Marc Stein is reporting that the Sacramento Kings are trying to acquire a former No. 2 pick: D’Angelo Russell.

There is probably only one player on the Kings roster that intrigues the Lakers, and there’s likely no chance Sacramento would trade DeMarcus Cousins straight up for the pick.

The Lakers are minutes from being on the clock with the No. 2 pick, and it would be shocking if they make a deal involving that pick, or any other member of their promising, young core.
