The Los Angeles Lakers are yearning for the magic that got them their 2019-20 NBA championship title. They started by constructing their roster, in some ways, like that championship squad. To do so, they brought in Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard to round out their veteran core. They even went further into their bag of exes by being back Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington, and Kent Bazemore. The team is holding steady for what appears to be an exciting season ahead.
Before they got to training camp in 2019, the Lakers all gathered in Las Vegas for a little extra chemistry. As mentioned, James brought the group together for a minicamp to jumpstart the familiarity with all the new faces and is doing it again. The Athletics’ Shams Charania reported:
LeBron James organizing Lakers team minicamp in Las Vegas ahead of training camp – a similar chemistry-building function to the one hosted before the 2020 title season. Details: pic.twitter.com/Z9c4JnSW1E

Many of the guys are already trickling into the training facility. We’ve seen James and Westbrook get some work in. Carmelo Anthony, DeAndre Jordan, and Bazemore were there recently. All signs point to the guys starting the early buy-in. At this point, it’s all about getting them on the floor and putting it all together. But everything happening at the moment is a great omen.
