NBA free-agency will be in full swing in a few weeks and the Los Angeles Lakers have work to do. Last season ended in a whimper. Injuries, contracts, and a condensed schedule seem to be the talk of all the year. Luckily, it doesn’t appear that the team will not get some of these things addressed to capture their second title in over three years.
The franchise is eager to get a third factor alongside all-stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They’ve been linked to both Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook just days after the NBA Finals ended. The most recent reports linked them to two guys that could surely occupy that role. Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reported connections to Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan:
A reunion between the former Toronto Raptors cornerstones would bring much-needed veteran presences to Los Angeles. Lowry and DeRozan are coming off seasons of missing the post-season and have a desire to get into the championship circle next season. The Lakers will have to assess all of their resources with limited financial flexibility and trade chips. Even with so many questions, hearing guys say they have their eye on joining their squad helps. It’s up to the front office to move and shake to make it all happen.
