Recap: Lakers hold on for New Year’s win against the Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers survived a fight against the San Antonio Spurs in a 109-103 win. The Lakers go 2-0 against them on their road trip. They will see them again in less than a week at Staples Center. Tonight’s win puts them at 4-2 on the year.

After reading today’s preview, Anthony Davis wanted us to say less. He came out of the game as the leading scorer with 34 points and 11 rebounds. Davis was especially accurate from long range hitting four of his six attempts. LeBron James contributed a triple-double alongside AD. He notched 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was a game-high of +18,

The night was bittersweet by way of injury. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope went down in the second half due to a mild ankle sprain. No updates have been made at this time. It looks as if they will continue to rely on Kyle Kuzma if KCP misses time. Tonight, both Kuzma and KCP finished with 11 points.

The Lakers will return to action on Sunday night. They will be visiting the Memphis Grizzlies. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM PST/6 PM EST.
