The Los Angeles Lakers picked up their first win in a rout against the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas. Offensively, they exploded for 138 points including five players scoring in double-digits. Sunday, they welcome in the Minnesota Timberwolves and top-pick Anthony Edwards. Former all-stars Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell visit Russell’s old stomping grounds.
The Timberwolves are coming off of a 116-111 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday. They come into Sunday’s contest undefeated at 2-0.
Dennis Shroder may possibly be joined by the new addition Montrezl Harrell as a starter. Big man Anthony Davis is dealing with a calf injury. His status is up in the air per Silver Screen and Roll’s Harrison Faigen:

Being the second game in three days (and the first game of a back-to-back), it could be a good opportunity to rest Davis. This was one of the reasons that the Lakers increased their depth this year.
Speaking of Schroder and Harrell, the two showed their scoring prowess on Friday. Trezz added 22 points and seven rebounds, showing that he’s not ready to relinquish his sixth man of the year title. Schroeder was not far behind himself. He added 18 points and six assists.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM PST/10 PM EST at Staples Center. It will be broadcasted on NBA TV nationally and Spectrum SportsNet locally.
