The Los Angeles Lakers championship celebration will go on hold as the Miami Heat took them down 111-108. The Heat came with great energy, as expected, and lived for another day. LeBron James played an outstanding game with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Anthony Davis was right behind him with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Nothing For Jimmy Butler
Every time the Heat have needed him, Jimmy Butler has come up big. Tonight he went blow for blow with James scoring 35 points along with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Butler hit two clutch free-throws that put the Heat up by one before Tyler Herro put the game away with a pair of free-throws.
The Long Ball Giveth and Taketh
The Lakers could not extinguish the Heat from beyond the arc tonight, allowing 14 three-pointers on 42.4 percent. Duncan Robinson nailed seven long balls to cap off a 26-point show. Robinson’s performance marked his Finals-high. Meanwhile, the Lakers had several missed threes down the stretch including a potential game-winner by Danny Green. In game six, the Laker will need to make a concerted effort to stay attached to the body of Miami’s shooters and knock down those butt-naked open shots.
Injury Scare
As always, you have to close out games for the sake of your health. Early in the first half, Davis went down in what looked like significant pain. The injury was said to be an aggravation of his right heel contusion. The injury showed some effects as time went on, and towards the final minutes of the fourth, he continued laboring. His status for game six will be something to keep an eye on through the weekend.
