Game Five Recap: Lakers bounce Rockets and advance to the Western Conference Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers advance to the Western Conference Finals after crushing the Houston Rockets, 119-96. They are now 8-2 in the playoffs heading into the third round. Tonight’s win marks the 10th trip and their first since the 2010 NBA Playoffs. LeBron James led the way with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. He is now 14-0 when his teams go up 3-1 in a series.

The First Quarter

The first quarter was a masterpiece on both sides of the ball. The Lakers put up 35 points on 72.2 percent shooting. This efficiency included seven made baskets from three on 58.3 percent. Defensively, they held the Rockets to 38.3 percent from three and really turned the tables on them.

Danny Gr33n & Co. Came Shooting

The Lakers shot a blistering 61.3 percent from long range tonight. Many of these shots were nailed by the role players. Danny Green and Markieff Morris tied for a team-high of four made three-pointers. Kyle Kuzma and LeBron added three apiece. The performance was defying gap between the Rockets and Lakers.

The Waiting Game

The Lakers bought themselves a little rest before facing their next opponent. The Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets continue their series tomorrow night. The next time they are going to see action will be on Wednesday or Friday night.
