When LeBron James made his move to Los Angeles to play for the Lakers, many pundits scoffed at the idea, saying that he was mostly (if not exclusively) going there to be closer to Hollywood where LeBron obviously had some interests. He may have found a way to take the Lakers to the number one seed in the Western Conference in his spare time, but the pundits are correct in the fact that LeBron, The Movie Producer, is just starting when it comes to Tinseltown.

He has always had his entertainment business SpringHill Entertainment at his disposal, ever since its creation during the time of the 2008 LeBron James documentary, “More Than a Game”. That production company will be the one producing the upcoming “Space Jam 2”, with more news coming today in regards to what else SpringHill Entertainment is working on. Specifically, LeBron James and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter will be leading SpringHill on co-producing a new Netflix movie starring…Adam Sandler.

Justin Kroll and Variety were first to report.

Sources tell Variety that (Adam) Sandler will star in “Hustle” from “We the Animals” director Jeremiah Zagar.

Taylor Materne and Will Fetters penned the script. Sandler’s Happy Madison, Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment are producing the pic.

Sandler plays an American basketball scout who, after being unjustly fired, discovers a talented player abroad and decides to bring him to the U.S. to prove that they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

A film centered around the NBA is bound to have some cameos from your favorite athletes (see “Like Mike” or “Space Jam”), but it’s doubtful that any active international player would be young enough to star in this role. LeBron James couldn’t even come close to filling the role, so go ahead and give up your dreams on a vehicle starring Adam Sandler and LeBron James.

Sandler has always had a love for basketball, specifically the New York Knicks. Just recently, he starred in the movie “Uncut Gems”, which starred Sandler but co-starred former NBA player Kevin Garnett as himself. Former Laker Shaquille O’Neal has also worked alongside Sandler, starring in “Grown Ups 2”.
