LeBron James is known as one of the best teammates in NBA history on the court. That fact may be true off the court as well, however.

In an Instagram Live with close friend Dwyane Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, current Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony told a story of James saving him from drowning during a vacation with all four present.

The whole story is hilarious and well worth your time:

Obviously, we don’t want to make light of what must have been a scary situation at the time and fortunately Melo escaped unscathed. That said, “Bron jumps off the boat like he’s MacGyver” is one of the funniest lines to come out of an NBA story in quite some time. It happening on one of the famed vacations including the three 2003 NBA Draft-mates with banana boat pictures is the icing on the cake.

Anthony says that LeBron saved his life in that moment which is just the latest (and most extreme) example of his fierce loyalty to his friends. All of us would be lucky to have friends like him.
