The Los Angeles Lakers have not been able to enjoy many games against the Golden State Warriors over the years, but a lot has changed. Since the arrival of Anthony Davis, they’ve won each of their three games against them, including tonight’s 116-86 victory. Anthony Davis led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. More importantly, they secured this one without the on-court help of LeBron James who was nursing a sore groin.

The Third Quarter

The Lakers turned the game in the third quarter. After allowing the Warriors to hang around 54-52, they outscored the Warriors 40-17. The run was good for a 25-point lead going into the fourth which allowed the team to buy a few minutes of rest for several of their veteran contributors.

Kyle Kuzma Gets It In

Kuz is at his best when he has the most opportunity and tonight checked that box. He finished the game with 18 points in 27 minutes. It’s these kinds of performances that the Lakers will need to continue their sucess.

Finishing The Roadtrip Before Test Time

The Lakers will finish up on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans this weekend. After that, they have their toughest stretch of the year against the Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Los Angeles Clippers. Tonight’s game off for LeBron could not come at a better time. Winning the game in the third quarter was extremely helpful to get some other guys rest as well.

The Lakers visit the Grizzlies on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
