After standing firm at the trade deadline and losing out on some top buyout candidates, the Los Angeles Lakers finally made a move by officially signing veteran forward Markieff Morris on Sunday, waiving DeMarcus Cousins in the process to open a roster spot. His twin brother, Marcus, meanwhile was traded to the Clippers at the deadline, adding more fuel to an already burgeoning rivalry.
Morris, a 40% 3-point shooter at the power forward position, played in 44 games with the Detroit Pistons in his first season with the team before agreeing to a buyout.
In the latest episode of the Lakers Outsiders Podcast, we are joined by Aaron Johnson who covers the Pistons for “Palace of Pistons” to discuss Morris and his impact on the team in his short time there. Among the discussed topics are his hot shooting, his offensive role, his defensive strengths and weaknesses, and his attitude and leadership in the locker room.
Note: This podcast was recorded on Monday, prior to Morris’ first game with the Lakers on Tuesday.
