Trade chatter is heating up ahead of Thursday’s deadline and an unlikely Lakers player has found himself in the middle of some rumors.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, “multiple teams” have reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers to inquire about Alex Caruso. We can only imagine that the Lakers hung up immediately after his name was brought up every time.

On a serious note, we have already heard that Caruso was mentioned in trade talks with the Knicks that have thus far not gone anywhere. Outside of that, the details are limited.

That said, any contender could use a player like Caruso who will play great defense and work hard offensively without being a major liability behind the arc. That’s why the Lakers have valued him as much as they have. You would think they wouldn’t move the guard without getting a sizeable upgrade in return. Furthermore, as the Lakers dangle Kyle Kuzma in trade talks, Caruso could theoretically be one of several players they can add to match salaries due to Kuzma’s contract situation.

The Lakers seem to be busy at the deadline as they aim to improve the roster and gear up for the playoffs. So far, none of their attempts have seemed to be very serious, however. Until we hear more, it’s probably safe to bet that AC Fresh won’t be going anywhere just yet.
