Welcome to another edition of Lakers Saturday superlatives! We got off to a rough start against the Dallas Mavericks but rebounded against the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets. Let’s take a look at how the team did.

Performance of the week

PORTLAND, OR – DECEMBER 6: Anthony Davis #3 of the Los Angeles Lakers dunks the ball against the Portland Trail Blazers on December 6, 2019 at the Moda Center Arena in Portland, Oregon. Anthony Davis was sick for most of the road trip. He needed an IV drip halftime against the Utah Jazz. Davis needed Dayquil to get through some games. Friday night, he have had his most impressive outing in weeks.

Davis scored 39 points to go along with nine rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. Simply put, Portland could not stop him. 12 of his points came from the free-throw line. But Davis was able to get a couple of three-point attempts to fall as well!

If that shot becomes more reliable, what’s stopping the Brow?

Play of the week

Time to talk about AD on the defensive side of the game. He has a ton of highlights that warrant praise on the defensive end. Against Denver, he had back to back possessions against Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray that resulted in stops. But, this is the play that audibly made me gasp. First, Davis blows by Bogdanovic. The Jazz sharp-shooter looks like he’s going to have an open shot but the next thing you know the trajectory of his shot is altered by Davis’s distal phalanx. Just an absolutely incredible effort.

Quote of the week

Jared Dudley is a fan favorite. He is mentoring Kuzma. He does fan giveaways. Dudley also looks like Elmer Fudd. What can’t he do?  Add good tweeter to the list. NBA Twitter was having a  field day after the Lakers’ loss to the Mavericks, with the “strength of schedule” crowd being the loudest. After back to back road wins against two Western Conference teams with winning records, Dudley had to ask. Winning streaks don’t come easy and a team with a 19-3 record is not to be taken lightly.

WTF of the week

Confirmed: LeBron James is a robot.

I think I was ready to pass the ball, and my brain just kind of just, I had a malfunction. I really had a malfunction.

LeBron gets away with such a blatant travel in this situation with the referee just watching him. Not only is this blunder on LeBron but, come on, ref what were you looking at? It’s pretty funny to see the mental lapse as well as everyone reacting to it.

Fit of the week

Troy Daniels gets the fit of the week. Here we see him rocking a m n m l camo jacket with a Gucci hoodie to go with Jordan 1 lows. I like simplistic outfits and this just works for me. The jacket/hoodie combo looks great. Jordans look good with most outfits too! You can never go wrong with a pair of 1s.  Daniels has been one of the best-dressed Lakers this season and gotta give his clothier a shoutout.

Kicks of the Week

Fine! I’ll say it, I don’t hate these LeBrons. The Nike LeBron 17’s have not been my favorite looking shoes. I thought it’s just the pictures first but even when I saw them in person, I could not think of a way that they’d look appealing to me. This colorway does not look terrible. The lilac-colored tongue mixes well with the color on the silhouette of the shoe. Purple shoes look great in my opinion so I gotta give it to the King here.
