Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers can mark their calendars. The date for the NBA’s opening day is finally set and the Lakers are slated to match up against the LA Clippers to start the season, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The game is slated for October 22nd and will likely be played at 7:30 PM PST. The other game of the night will feature the defending champion Toronto Raptors and the New Orleans Pelicans led by Zion Williamson and several former Lakers in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart.

We are getting closer to the debut of the duo that is LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Lakers will be opening the 2020 season similarly to the 2018 season when they opened at home against the Clippers, although this time it will officially be a Clippers home game, according to Brad Turner of the LA Times. The newly revamped Lakers will have the chance to show their championship ambition against the new-look Clippers who also have high hopes. The two teams split the 2018-19 regular-season series. This game will be at Staples to go along with their marquee matchup on Christmas day.

The Clippers’ Paul George may not be available for the opening night game as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery.

This offseason has brought about numerous expectations for Laker fans. The NBA is as wide open as it has ever been. The addition of Anthony Davis and numerous free agents have the Lakers poised to be in contention for the title. Given the poor start last year, the team has to begin their season on a high note. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and veterans surrounding them will be a good start as October comes around.
