Anthony Davis will be making his return to the Big Easy in November. Shams Charania of the Athletic has announced that November 27 is when the former Pelican has his homecoming.
Sources: Notable superstar return games on 2019-20 NBA schedule:
Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard at Toronto: Dec. 11
Lakers‘ Anthony Davis at New Orleans: Nov. 27
Nets‘ Kyrie Irving at Boston: Nov. 27
Rockets’ Russell Westbrook at Oklahoma City: Jan. 9.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) August 2, 2019
The Lakers traded for Davis on June 15th. Not only is this New Orleans’ first look at Davis with his new team, but it will be against a few familiar faces for the Lakers. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart will be squaring up against the team that drafted them.
The former young core will be with number 1 overall pick Zion Williamson and veteran guard, Jrue Holiday. The Pelicans will see some familiarity as well. Both DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo were with the franchise last time they made the playoffs.
Davis was drafted first overall by the then Hornets in 2012 and spent most of his career with the franchise before being traded to Los Angeles. New Orleans made the playoffs twice with Davis at the helm, only to be bounced twice by the Golden State Warriors.
Fans can expect an intense match-up. Players returning to places that they left will always lead to play-off like atmospheres.
