The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly inching closer to naming Tyronn Lue as the head coach after the Phoenix Suns hired Monty Williams. Lue, who turned 42 over the weekend, celebrated his birthday in Las Vegas. What is worth pointing out is that Lue’s birthday cake, as shown by TMZ, was designed with the Lakers logo on it and had an interesting message: “Happy Birthday Coach.”
This message and the cake itself seem all but certain that the Lakers will announce the Lue as their next head coach sometime in the near future. Lue has been a consistent name that floated around the Lakers’ head coach position after Luke Walton parted ways with the organization. Lue has also been a favorite of LeBron James since the two won a championship together back in 2016.
It was also reported last week that not only does Lue have the support of LeBron James, but Phil Jackson and Magic Johnson also endorsed the former Cavalier head coach as well.
