All eyes in the NBA are on the New Orleans Pelicans, who are deciding whether or not they want to have a fire sale after the best player in the franchise’s history Anthony Davis requested a trade following a myriad of reasons.
However, it appears that Pelicans executive Dell Demps is not ready to pull the trigger on trading Davis.
Any Lakers trade package presented to the Pelicans would include some combination of Ingram, Hart, Kuzma, Ball and Ivica Zubac, as well as a future first-round pick or picks. When that offer could occur leading up to the deadline is unknown. New Orleans general manager Dell Demps is “not picking up his phone,” a source familiar with the situation told ESPN on Tuesday.
All pressure is on the Lakers, who appear to be in the driver’s seat with the most available assets. However, the Lakers also have the most pressure to make a deal before the deadline, as the longtime rival Boston Celtics can make an offer after Kyrie Irving’s deal expires on July 1st.
In my opinion, the Lakers need to do whatever it takes to get Anthony Davis on the team. If that means sending Magic Johnson to New Orleans to talk to Dell Demps because he isn’t picking up his phone, I will personally pay for his plane ticket to get there.
I love the young core, but there isn’t a single player on the team outside of LeBron James that I wouldn’t trade for Anthony Davis.
Time will tell if Dell Demps answers his phone.
