What a Friday night for NBA fans, as Trevor Ariza almost became the newest member of the Washington Wizards. However, due to confusion as to which player named Brooks they were receiving from the Grizzlies, the Suns and company were unable to complete a deal that worked for everyone involved.
With that, the Suns turned their attention to try and complete a deal with just the Wizards. However, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Ariza and his agent are pushing for him to become a Los Angeles Laker.
“Ariza and his agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA, had hoped that the Lakers could complete a deal with the Suns, but that became more difficult to navigate in recent days, league sources said. Sarver became more sensitive about doing a deal with the Lakers in wake of the criticism that came with allowing center Tyson Chandler to get a contract buyout to join the Lakers last month, sources said. The Lakers had been eager to make a deal for Ariza.”
The Suns have talked to several teams about Ariza. FWIW, he wants to be a Laker. https://t.co/Y6PDkMICLu

If Robert Sarver doesn’t want to do a deal with the Lakers because of negative comments from his fans and the media, maybe he shouldn’t have cut one of his best players. His mistakes worked in the benefit of the Lakers, and that’s his own problem. If the return from the Lakers is good, that’s what he should be focused on.
Nevertheless, we (im)patiently wait for updates from Woj in the coming hours.
