Podcast: Lakers sneak by Cavaliers in LeBron James’ return to Cleveland

The night was all about one man. With the Los Angeles Lakers traveling to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers, it wasn’t going to be just another NBA game for LeBron James.

Standing ovations, applause, hugs and video tributes were shared for the man that pulled the Cavaliers out of the depths of NBA purgatory and ended a city’s championship drought that spanned across five decades. After the Cavs and their fans said thank you, they tried to spoil James’ return home by upsetting the Lakers.

They nearly succeeded, taking a 99-91 lead over Los Angeles with under five minutes to play, but James refused to head back to his new home with a loss to his old team. The Lakers ended the game on an 18-6 run in the final 4:30 of play to steal a 109-105 win over the lowly Cavaliers.

The win puts the Lakers at 10-7 on the season as the team heads back to Los Angeles for six home games out of their next seven. I offer my thoughts on tonight’s game and what is ahead for the Lakers, while answering listener questions.
