Following reports about a volatile meeting between Magic Johnson and Luke Walton earlier this week, questions about the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach’s job security have been raised. While he does not appear to be in any imminent danger of losing his job, it’s clear that patience is running thin in the Lakers’ front office and that Walton would be the primary scapegoat of any perceived lack of success.
On the new extended edition of the Lakers Outsiders Podcast, the guys discuss the details of the ESPN report and whether they believe Walton should or will be fired. They evaluate the head coach’s work so far this season and discuss what he needs to improve upon to save his job.
Additionally, the guys talk about the season so far and where it falls based on their pre-season predictions and whether they think the 3-5 start to the year is too much to overcome.
Finally, they look forward to Saturday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers and preview what the Lakers need to do to win their first game against the Blazers in 17 tries.
They will also be answering fan questions.
