Magic Johnson: “I’m going to get another superstar”

Magic Johnson has already been fined twice for tampering and may be on his way to a third offense.

He was first given a warning for joking about tampering while on Jimmy Kimmel Live show, then the Lakers were fined after an NBA investigation discovered conversations occurred between Rob Pelinka and Paul George’s agent and then fined again after he said Giannis Antentokounmpo would win a championship in Milwaukee. So at this point, he seems to be fairly well acquainted with the NBA’s tampering rules, or lack of following them.

While on the Fox Sports pre-game show for the Los Angeles Dodgers game four World Series game against the Boston Red Sox, he stated:

“I’m gonna get another superstar next summer!”

He then proceeded to laugh while Fox Sports showed him a photoshop of both LeBron James and Kevin Durant in Lakers uniforms.

Now it’s not certain he will be fined for this as he doesn’t actually say Durant’s name or say anything else incriminating, but with his tampering past the league already has an eye on him so who knows.

As for the superstar rumors, the Lakers luckily already have LeBron James! Whether or not they snag Kevin Durant to pair with LeBron is anyone’s guess, but it sure would be a fun superstar duo as Kevin Durant is objectively a top 3 player in the league and some would argue he’s well on his way to being #1.

Signing him away from Golden State would be tough and some would say it’s almost impossible, but then again many said the same thing about LA’s chances at signing LeBron James this summer and look at how that turned out for the purple and gold.
