With basketball season finally coming around, all of the questions and speculations regarding the Lakers will be answered. After finding out that LeBron will play center according to Jae Crowder, looks like we will have another person that would be able to man the 5 spot.

According to Luke Walton (per ESPN), Kyle Kuzma will get looks at the center position during the season similarly to how Julius Randle was used, stating that he liked the versatility that it lent to the team. Both players are traditionally undersized to play the spot but as the league morphs into more small ball where players can play multiple positions, Kuzma looks to make the jump.

Kuzma acknowledged how playing that position can be different from the roles that he saw as a rookie, but has spent the off-season bulking up to fit into that position. Luke spoke about the changes that he saw physically for Kuzma as he said: “he’s much more of a man right now physically — the way he runs the court, the way he’s jumping and taking contact and all those things. He’s worked extremely hard this off-season and it’s showing up on court”

As a player that struggled on defense, he spoke about how important it was to be the anchor on that side of the ball and has been doing the film work necessary to do that to the best of his ability.
