All eyes are on LeBron James in the NBA world. The star forward made shockwaves by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers and has made news recently by appearing in Las Vegas to watch some of his new teammates in Summer League.

Despite the trip to Vegas, James apparently will not be sticking around through next week to participate in the Team USA minicamp, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. The annual event is schedule for July 25-27.

James is a two-time gold medalist with Team USA, winning the top prize in the Olympics in 2008 and 2012. He did not join the team for the 2016 Olympics in Rio and it’s not clear if he will participate in 2020 when he will be 35 years old.

The training camp will be the first Team USA event led by San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich who has had a close relationship with LeBron throughout the star forward’s career. Popovich has also been tied to the Lakers in recent weeks due to a trade request from his disgruntled star, Kawhi Leonard, who has reportedly made it clear that he will sign with the Lakers in 2019 as a free agent.

It’s not clear if Leonard will participate in the training camp. He spent much of last season recovering from a quad injury.
