Lakers News: Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball earn All-Rookie Honors

After bursting onto the scene during Summer League, Kyle Kuzma continued her torrent pace throughout the 2017-18 season with the Los Angeles Lakers are parlayed that into All-Rookie First Team honors, announced on Tuesday.

Joining Kuzma in the All-Rookie First Team are Rookie of the Year favorites in Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell, fellow wing standout Jayson Tatum and big man Lauri Markkanen.

Lonzo Ball, meanwhile, earned All-Rookie Second Team honors alongside Dennis Smith Jr., John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Josh Jackson.

This season for the Lakers, Kuzma averaged 16.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field, 36.6 percent from three-point range and 70.7 percent at the free throw line.

Kuzma was second in all rookie in scoring this season behind just Mitchell while also trailing only Mitchell in three-pointers made while attempting over 100 less.

Ball, meanwhile, averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 36 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from three-point territory and 45.1 percent from the line.

Only Simmons averaged more assists than Ball while the UCLA product also ranked fourth in rookies in rebounding.

Simmons and Mitchell were the only unanimous selections to the All-Rookie First Team while Tatum and Kuzma each garnered over 90 First-Team votes.
