Lakers Trade Rumors: Lakers reportedly don’t seem in a rush to make deals before deadline

After nearly a calendar year hearing about moves the Los Angeles Lakers would make in order to clear as much salary as they could in an attempt to open up two max spaces Magic Johnson spoke of as if they already existed, things appear rather quiet in the Lakers offices.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne hopped an ESPN Los Angeles Wednesday morning to talk about the goings on around the organization and had this to say.

This also comes on the heels of a report from Tuesday morning that the Lakers might actually be recalibrating their free agency plans to focus on players who will become available in the summer of 2019.

Things can change rapidly this time of year, but it certainly seems the Lakers have either been forced to accept a different reality than Magic and Rob Pelinka envisioned when they took over or have rethought their strategy as the young core has developed in front of them.

Either way, this is probably the prudent way forward, so long as they stick with the strategy.
