ESPN, Kobe Bryant partner up for new TV show

On Friday, ESPN announced that they would be partnering with Granity Studios, which is owned by Kobe Bryant, to produce a new show titled Detail, which will be hosted, written and produced by the Laker great.

In the article, ESPN says that the series will have 15 episodes, each with a runtime of 15 minutes, and they will air during the latter half of the NBA season, with the last episode coinciding with the NBA Finals. The show will focus on teaching younger athletes “see the game in a different way”, with Kobe giving them advice and tips on how to improve their game.

“Studying game film is how the best get better. It’s the university for a master’s degree in basketball.” said Bryant. “I learned how to study film from the best coaches of all time – Phil Jackson and Tex Winter. Detail provides an opportunity to teach that skill to the next generation on large platform with ESPN.”

While we don’t know much about what to expect, if Kobe’s previous projects are any indication of what’s to come, this series will be must-watch television. With the episodes being as short as they are, there are no excuses for not watching one of the all-time greats give a unique insight into a game he has spent the last two decades perfecting and changing.
