Nike has done what they can to get people to rethink some traditional jersey ideologies, such as: when and where they should be worn, what colors should they be and whether they should always remain in one piece.
They’ve also gone about releasing the uniforms in an — uh, interesting — way, seemingly at random to the casual viewer.
In the latest chapter of the uniform saga, NBA 2K18 might have jumped the gun and accidentally released each team’s “The City” jersey, per SportsLogos.net’s Conrad Bradburry.
The Lakers have been all over the place with their uniforms this year. The traditional purple road jersey hasn’t been nearly prevalent enough. The gold uniforms have been worn on the road. The Sunday whites have been worn on non-Sunday games. Though with all those criticisms, we have gotten those incredibly clean MPLS throwbacks, so maybe that’s the trade.
There’s still one uniform to unveil, though, and it looks like NBA 2K might have taken care of that, albeit accidentally. Here’s the Lakers’ “The City” jersey.
It’s impossible to say whether that textured look is due to the picture quality, but overall, this is certainly a start. Personally, I’d like to see more purple, but that’s just me.
If the Lakers officially confirm these jerseys, we’ll provide the update as soon as goes live.
