The Lakers had had their way with the Phoenix Suns in two previous contests, registering two of their six wins on the season against the team in Arizona. Friday night was different, however, as the Lakers were unable to play the brand of defense that has turned heads early this season, eventually falling at home by a final score of 122-113.
The story of the night was the Lakers’ defensive woes as they gave up 67 points in the first half and were unable to get stops down the stretch as they nearly completed a comeback. It was arguably the team’s worst effort on that end of the floor as they came into the game with a top-five defense in the NBA.
On tonight’s episode of the Lakers Outsiders Podcast, the guys discuss what went wrong for the Lakers, particularly defensively, that resulted in a disappointing loss. They also talk about Lonzo Ball’s play after his worst game of the season as well as Kyle Kuzma’s stellar effort in the loss.
