Lonzo Ball on injury status ahead of Lakers’ opening game: “I’m playing for sure”

Lonzo Ball’s preseason ended prematurely due to a sprained ankle suffered during a game. The rookie was cautiously held out of the remaining games on the schedule with the hope that he would be ready to take over the starting spot as the regular season started.

With the Lakers’ first game just around the corner, on Thursday against the LA Clippers, Ball gave fans something to be hopeful for as the point guard strongly claimed that he would be ready for the opener:

This is a great sign as Ball, who previously suffered an injury during Summer League, has not had a lot of time to mesh with his teammates. That could lead to a slow start to his rookie season but this news should hopefully diminish the size of the road bump he’ll have to cross.

Ball has been hyped as a can’t-miss prospect for months, especially as someone who grew up in the area and went to school at UCLA. Lakers fans have been waiting to see the Chino Hills star in action and it appears as though they will get their wish in just a few days.
