Podcast: Paul George trade, free agency day one reaction

The wild NBA off-season took another turn just moments before free agency started on Friday evening as the Indiana Pacers dealt Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.

The trade puts a temporary halt on the Lakers’ pursuit of Paul George and will now bring up the questions as to whether George wants to stay with a playoff team in Oklahoma City to come play for a non-contender in Los Angeles.

While free agency itself has provided little surprise across the league, it has provided much news. Golden State’s Steph Curry signed a massive extension, Jeff Teague will join forces with Tom Thibodeau in Minnesota and Ricky Rubio is a member of the Jazz.

For the Lakers, the news was expectedly quiet and calm as the team reached out to a handful of free agents at midnight in Andre Iguodala, Rajon Rondo and Ben McLemore.

What does the George trade mean for the Lakers? Are they the favorites to land him in 2018? What about Russell Westbrook?

The guys answer that and more in the latest, and impromptu, episode of the Lakers Outsiders podcast.
