Report: “Strong chance” that Ryan West joins the Clippers

The Lakers are not known for being the center of attention, but somehow, here they are.

News broke late Wednesday night that Jerry West is joining the Clippers in a similar role to the one he held with the Golden State Warriors. Not a big deal for the Lakers, right?

That might not be the case according to Broderick Turner of the LA Times, who reported that an executive said, “There is a strong chance that West’s son, Ryan West, who is the Lakers’ director of player personnel, will join the Clippers in some capacity,”

Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reported in February that Ryan West is ‘considered a significant part’ of the new front office regime.

This is a potentially huge gain for the Los Angeles Clippers, but it could hurt the Lakers more.

Nothing is ever set in stone in the NBA, but it is indeed a dangerous time for the Lakers to lose their director of player personnel with the draft and free agency only a few weeks away.
