Preview: Lakers look to avoid getting stung by Hornets

The Lakers are resuming their road trip against the Charlotte Hornets after 2 full days of rest. That rest will be extremely helpful for D’Angelo Russell who is indeed playing after some miscommunication between fans and the media.

Speaking of point guards, Kemba Walker will be starting in tonight’s game and looks to be the Hornets’ biggest scoring threat. He’s putting up career high numbers with a notable 22 points per game and is shooting 42 percent on three point shots. He is one of the East’s top point guards and it will be interesting to see if the Lakers can contain him.

He’s not the only Hornet to watch out for. Nicolas Batum may be having a down year efficiency wise but he can still sting you. He has an impressive stat line of 13/7/5 and is still an extremely versatile wing who can defend all over the court.

Brandon Ingram looks to build off of his previous game in which he played point guard. He had his best pro game yet and almost had a triple double with 9 points, 9 assists, and 10 rebounds. It’s evident that Luke Walton is trying to develop his skills by forcing him to handle the ball as much as possible and it seems to be working.

As tonight’s game is in Ingram’s home state, 650 people from his hometown have driven over 4 hours to see him.

With D’Angelo back it will be interesting to see if Julius Randle continues to play well. Randle seems to have his best games with D’Angelo playing, evident in his 25 point game in Philly last week. He played well in Saturday’s game so its’ quite evident he plays well when the point guard (Ingram or D’Angelo) is playing well.

Catch tonight’s game on Spectrum Sportsnet at 4:00 PM PST.
