Lakers news: Larry Nance, Jr. set to return Wednesday against the Rockets

After the bad news on the injury front continued to pile up for the Los Angeles Lakers, they are finally starting to get encouraging news.

On Tuesday, D’Angelo Russell was cleared to begin on-court work once again, although he did not make the trip with the team to take on the Houston Rockets (14-7) on Wednesday. Tarik Black also did not make the trip and will miss his first game of the season.

However, Los Angeles will have its dynamic power forward duo back in action against James Harden and company. A knee injury kept Larry Nance, Jr. out of the lineup the past two games, but he is ready to go for tonight’s contest, according to Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Bresnahan.

The Lakers — who have lost their last three games and fallen to 10-13 on the season — certainly will need to get everyone healthy again if they hope to make a surprising playoff push this season. Due to several injuries, head coach Luke Walton has been forced to break up the second unit that has been incredibly successful so far this season.

Even with Nance returning, the Lakers still find themselves down a number of key contributors. But with Nance back in action and Russell’s return imminent, perhaps the Lakers can soon get back to the success they enjoyed to tip-off the season.
