Lakers, Metta World Peace reach agreement

Despite an underwhelming season both individually and as a team, the Los Angeles Lakers and Metta World Peace have reached an agreement for the enigmatic figure to return.

Last season, World Peace saw an unexpectedly large role with the Lakers, playing in 35 games at an average of 16.9 minutes per night. The 16-year veteran averaged 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game, shooting 31.1% from the field, 31% from the three-point line and 70.2% from the free throw line.

At this point in his career, MWP is likely best-served as a veteran mentor for players like Julius Randle, Larry Nance and even newly-drafted Brandon Ingram. For the Lakers, having players like Luol Deng and MWP as mentors for a rather young team is a great move.
