Jamil Wilson will play for the Lakers Summer League team

There has been another addition to the Lakers Las Vegas Summer League roster. Jamil Wilson has reportedly joined the team today to bring the roster total up to 9 with Jabari Brown and Zach Auguste being the biggest names outside of the players the team drafted.

Players already signed on for Summer League: D’Angelo Russell, Zach Auguste, Jabari Brown, Larry Nance, Jr. Anthony Brown, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac, and Moustapha Fall.

The team’s first game will be on July 8th against the New Orleans Pelicans at 7:30 PT with games going through July 11th before the LVSL tournament beginning on July 13th.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders was first to report the Lakers signing Wilson for Summer League.

Wilson, 25, spent his college days at Marquette before going undrafted in 2014 and signing on but eventually fizzing out with the Phoenix Suns and spending time in the D-League with the Texas Legends.

In his last season with the Legends, Wilson put up some respectable numbers and looks to showcase his game to the NBA during his next Summer League run. The 6 foot 7, 230 pound small forward averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, while shooting .386 percent from distance in 48 games last season. He is an improving shooter as the numbers show and uses his strong frame to get to the rim and keep the defense on its heels. We will see how much run he is given in Las Vegas with a few guard/forwards already on the roster.

It seems like the Lakers will be taking a few fliers on some players for their Summer League roster, which could pay off if they find a hidden gem, and also gives the players another chance at reviving their careers.
